Basic Referee’s Qualification.

Working in conjunction with the Oxfordshire Football Association and the FA’s regional Referee’s Development Officer Janie Frampton students at the Oxford and Cherwell Valley College Football Development Centre are put through the Basic Referee’s Qualification.

The course is seen as a vital part of the players development with the much publicised attitude towards match officials, with the players completing the Written Examination on the Laws of the Game and an Oral interview with a qualified trainer / assessor it is expected that the students will have a better understanding of the laws of the game and a fresh approach to Match Officials are treated during games at all levels.

The course that now allows the students to officiate in grass roots football across the County is also part of their academic qualification and development as a young footballer.  Football Development Centre tutor Richard Peirson adds that “it is also a great opportunity for the students to earn some extra cash by officiating in the local boys and girls leagues at the weekend, the OFA also offer a £30 payment to newly qualified referee’s once they have completed ten matches”.
